BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
Socheata has more than 5 years of experiences expertized in real estate and financial laws. She started her legal career as a legal internship at an international financial jurist located in Geneva, Switzerland. Through her internship, she developed a strong awareness of private financing and public offering. She worked with an international team of jurists to draft private offering memorandum to help an entrepreneur or a company to raise capital to undertake a project.
In 2017, she later joined one of the top regional law firms located in Cambodia as a legal advisor in the real estate practice group focusing on landholding structures, real right registration, construction and property development. There, she advised the national and international clients on landholding structures, and securing the acquisition of multi-million-dollar properties for offshore and onshore client ranging from land, industrial, commercial, retail and residential properties to property development projects (share deal and asset deal). Among the cases, she participated and assisted one of the hospitality group companies in offshore acquisition of one of the top hotels located in Phnom Penh and in Siem Reap and acquisition of banking and financial institutions by drafting the due diligence report on the target company and preparing the transaction documents.
Apart from the above-mention, Socheata also has expertise in drafting commercial contracts, including but not limited to multi-million-dollar property sale, purchase and lease agreements, and numerous complex security documents involving real estate-based assets.
Furthermore, Socheata has also experience in public policy where she has assisted government in drafting regulations including Prakas on Cooling-off Period for implementing the law on Consumer Protection, Prakas on Negotiated Procedure and Formalities for implementing the Competition Law, and prepare the assessment regarding the legal framework condition for attaining the Universal Health Coverage.
